Edward Lark | Age: 44 | Mortal | FC: Robert Downey Jr.| Starting ship: He is married to Eilonwy Lark.
“A man who doesn’t worry about which piece on the chessboard falls is a man who controls his own fate.”
Describing the infamous and deadly Edward Lark as an enigma would be a vicious understatement. There was little about him anyone could actually claim to know, and the few things they did know remained in a grey area of doubt. Being a smart man, he knew that in his line of business, even the tiniest truth could be twisted into something sick and dark and released into the wild to grow out of control. So, he kept to himself, finding solace in the shadows and comforted by the knowledge that none of his followers could outstep him. Like the Eye of Sauron, he oversees his makeshift army diligently. Mostly to ensure that not one fly escapes its trap and slips out of his iron-clad grasp.
That being said, control and power were two things that come easily to Edward. Misguided youths from all backgrounds and societal divisions continuously flock toward him not because he won them over by fear, but by the peaceful act of providing sanctuary. The gang, while violent and ruthless, offered a platform for all those who wanted to escape from the restraints of their daily lives. Somehow, delving into a deeper darkness, by what they thought was their own choice, was less distressing than the hardships they were previously subjected to. Having had a miserable upbringing himself, Edward knew exactly what spoke to these youths and took advantage of their desperation. Highly tactical by all accounts, he never allows an opportunity to grow in power or influence pass him by. It long ago became a all-consuming obsession which doused his waking thoughts and shallow dreams with greed and insatiability. There are even some who would go as far as to say he has no boundaries, and no qualms with killing man, woman and child to move higher up. On the surface, there is nothing to refute that claim. Especially on days when it it’s difficult to say when his anger began and when it faded away, and the smallest of mistakes could result in a bullet between the eyes. However, invalidating popular belief was the fact that he is a very principled person. Granted, he abides by his own morality, but there were lines even he would not cross. Lines he wouldn’t let anyone else cross either.
Governed entirely by his own logic and concept of ethicality, Lark finds it difficult to maintain an open mind about everyone else’s beliefs. This is chiefly due to his finding everyone else incapable or rivaling his gray matter. As a child, Edward was always brighter than his peers. At the time, having still been a wet behind the ears boy who wanted to make friends, he didn’t bat an eyelash to the fact that they didn’t match up to him intellectually. Their incompetence didn’t become clear to him until the initial luster faded after one too many occasions in which he bore the brunt of cruel, juvenile jokes. After he was driven away by their taunts, he was able to see the full picture, and has since learned not to separate desire from practicality. All his relationships from that point onwards were based on convenience in place of actual emotion. That way, when friends came and went during his time growing up, he didn’t feel phased at all. It remains a useful skill to this day, and works almost too well. Not only is he capable of simply not caring about the kids that offer themselves at his feet, but sometimes he finds it hard to care even when he really wants to. Such is the case with his own children and wife. If he were to be specific, it isn’t that he doesn’t care. On the contrary, his family is the only thing that matters to him, and the only thing that ever has. He suspects that after wiring himself not to express any sentimentalities, it became difficult to slip into any other mode. As fervently as he wishes to be able to reach out to his wife and tell her everything she thinks of him, everything she thinks he feels for her is the exact opposite. Incapable of meeting his own wishes, he buries himself into more work as his own comforting method.
As a future-oriented person, he doesn’t dwell on the past or hold grudges. When something irks him, he nips the problem in the bud straight away. The transitional moments in his past between picking up selling cheap drugs in high school, out of boredom and as a stepping stone to popularity, and becoming a fully fledged drug-runner. He couldn’t place a finger on when his pure love for his wife, their contently sweet relationship was contorted into something ugly and wrong. Introverting all these personal problems, Edward rejects the idea of confrontation to opt for hunting for more success instead. In the shady business he dealt in, that meant finding the next best thing before the competition could and monopolising it. For the longest time, it seemed mixing all sorts of nasty recreational drugs was the only way to achieve that goal. A recent chance encounter spun that norm out of control and landed him at a window of opportunity once more. All it would take now was relocating the teenage vagrant he’d found sprawled in an alley, murmuring incoherently about a new and magical drug, strung out beyond belief. That was all he needed to do, and he’d make sure to succeed. Whatever the cost.
Relationships [Must read biographies]Eilonwy is his wife. Edward has loved her since he met her while he was doing his undergraduate degree. However their marriage is strained to his his inability to come to terms and admit to his feelings.
Travis is his eldest child and only son. The relationship between the two couldn’t be worse. FIlled with biting and sarcastic banter, and power play. All the same, he is loyal to his father and would lay his life down to protect him. Despite his being unaware that his father would do the same for him.
Astrid is one of his daughters. She is probably the closest to her father, because her nature as an optimist allows her to forgive his callousness. She’s very dear to him.
Erin is his third and youngest child. She mostly stays close to her mother, and barely sees her father since he’s a workaholic and she’s much too young to be allowed anywhere near him while he’s with the gang.
Darcy is his right hand “man”. She is his most trusted recruit, and secretly he cares for her as though she were one of his own children. They are very alike in dispositions, which allows him not to worry too much about it. Still, the fact remains that she’s quite young and the more fatherly side of his personality remains on edge about bringing her along on his next operation.
Dave is the squatter he saw in the alley. While he doesn’t know his name, Edward never forgets a face and he is determined to find him and extract further information about the drug he’d confessed to knowing about before Lark and his gang had to flee the scene due to an approaching police vehicle. Edward believes this drug is his next big thing.

What? They’re the same thing, you just put quotes on one of them and back-slashes on the other. No, you silly. ”para-rp” refers to tumblr paras and /para-rp/ refers to an actual, well-written, multi-para roleplay; big difference.
There’s a difference. What, you didn’t know?
“Wowwww, remember in ‘09 when it was cool to be a negative asshole on the internet? Yeah, those days have fucking ended, sweetheart. Buy a pissing hipster t-shirt and listen to Crystal Castles and chill.”— Nameless Child. {x}
Wow, it took me a while to remember which post this was from.
